Publication "Revisiting point defects in ionic solids and semiconductors"

Prof. Roger A. De Souza and Dr. George Harrington have recently published a comment in the journal Nature Materials.

As the study of point defects in non-metallic crystals becomes more important and relevant to an increasing number of materials applications, a unified definition and terminology is needed. In their comment, the authors explain the underlying definitions of point defects. They also emphasise the recognition of point defects as quasiparticles.
